Lindsay Lohan Denies Addictions, Blames Father for 'Trauma'
Lindsay Lohan is Vanity Fair's October cover girl, opening up to the magazine about her alcohol use and her history with her father, Michael Lohan. She candidly spoke to the mag prior to serving two weeks of her 90-day jail sentence and her in-patient residency in rehab.
Alcohol and drug abuse accusations were tackled, to which Lindsay denied being addicted to either. "If I were the alcoholic everyone says I am, then putting a [SCRAM] bracelet on would have ended me up in detox, in the emergency room, because I would have had to come down from all the things that people say I’m taking and my father says I'm taking…"
She blamed her immaturity in her teenage years for "dabbling in certain things" when she had newly gained her independence and wealth in Los Angeles. However, she disputed accusations of being dependent on prescription drugs, maintaining, "I've never abused prescription drugs. I never have--never in my life. I have no desire to."
Lindsay pointed fingers at her father, saying he caused "trauma" in her life. Michael unexpectedly showed up at Lindsay's court hearing in which she was sentenced to 90-days in jail and 90-days in rehab. She was torn about his presence, saying, "The worst part of it is you turn around and you see your dad crying and normally you'd be, like, happy that your father's there. But then he has to go and do an interview right after."
Younger sister Ali Lohan was also in the courtroom and Lindsay found it "heartbreaking" to witness her sister in tears.
The fallen starlet hopes to shine bright again one day and remains optimistic about her future in acting. "I know that I'm a damn good actress," she said confidently. "And I know that in my past I was young and irresponsible, but that's what growing up is. You learn from your mistakes."
The issue of Vanity Fair will be available on newsstands in New York and Los Angeles on Thursday, September 2. Distribution will go nationwide on Tuesday, September 7.
