Claws Come Out as Catfights Escalate on 'Real Housewives of NJ' Reunion
Table flipping was so last year! Pillow-throwing is the latest trend in the Garden State. It was three against one as the four remaining women of "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" hit the jackpot of drama in Atlantic City during part one of a two-part reunion special on Monday night.
Blood pressure went soaring as Teresa Giudice, Caroline Manzo, and Jacqueline Laurita harped on their controversial history with Danielle Staub. Teresa proclaimed, "I think Danielle could relate to [the cast of 'Jersey Shore']. After a week you met Steve, you slept with him in my shore house in front of your kids." Jacqueline added, "You're a piece of garbage."
Tempers really went flailing when Danielle accused Teresa of not acknowledging the birth of her nephew, Jacqueline's son. Denying the claim, Teresa jumped to her feet and got up in Danielle's face, screaming, "Do not break up my family." Things escalated to the point that host Andy Cohen had to restrain Teresa to give Danielle the opportunity to safely exit the set. A determined and aggravated Teresa pushed Andy back to his seat and threw pillows at Danielle.
Once simmered down, Danielle returned to the couch under the condition that Teresa was not allowed to get off of the couch again. Sparks were quickly ignited when former costar Dina Manzo's name was thrown in the conversation. Teresa claimed that Dina left the show "because of Danielle." Danielle, whose attornies put a gag order on Dina, debunked insinuations that she questioned Dina's mothering abilities, saying, "I don't have any reason [to take Dina's daughter away from her]. I don't think she's an unfit mother."
Teresa certainly thinks highly of Dina as a mom, deeming her the godmother of her newborn daughter. In an emotional and heartfelt moment, Teresa said, "I love her. I feel like she's a sister to me. I've known her for a long time and now, like she said, this makes us family." Without her as a cast member, Caroline interjected, "Certainly a piece of the puzzle is missing, but we get to go home and see her, so we did not lose anything because she's still very much a big part of our life. She's happy, she's at peace."
The other women called Danielle's own maternal capabilities into question with the surfacing of two sex tapes, one currently available for purchase, seemingly against her will. Danielle defended herself, saying, "I've tried to explain to them that Mommy should have been more careful and more private and I'm not proud of a lot of things that I've done...I've shielded them from as much as I can." She also hinted at being involved in a lesbian relationship with Lori Michaels, who she recorded a song with, but wouldn't fully admit to the love connection.
After encountering money troubles, Teresa was called out on her frivolous spending. She denied reports that her home is in foreclosure, that her belongings were up for auction, and that she is in $20,000 debt to high-end department stores. She said that she and her husband Joe "didn't grow up with a silver spoon in our mouth. We weren't handed anything. Everything we've had, we did ourselves, so just like did it before, we'll do it again." She claims to have changed her lifestyle accordingly and Jacqueline added, "The second she did find out, she went to work."
Though often seen spending lavishing on her four daughters, Teresa was on the defensive about spoiling her girls. She said, "My kids, they don't have their love from materialistic things. They have their love from me and Joe. I tell them I love them a million times a day. If anything, this whole thing has brought us even closer than we were."
Watch Danielle stomp off the set for a second time when part two of the explosive "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" reunion airs on September 6 on Bravo.
