AS THE WORLD TURNS RECAPS

At Memorial, Bob asked Luke to accompany him to a meeting at Al's later regarding Chief of Staff position. He mostly wanted Luke to babysit Reid, who'd presenting himself to important union members. Meanwhile, Reid chastised an ailing Chris for not seeking treatment for the rare viral disease he's been diagnosed with. Their bickering was interrupted by Katie who asked what's going on. Reid pretended they were arguing over another patient's case and informed Katie that said patient needs to seek treatment immediately for his disease because it could lead to a fatal heart condition. After Reid left, Chris was distracted and called for a rush on his blood work. Later, Bob asked Chris to join him and Reid at the meeting to prove that he's a good candidate for the position.

At the party supply warehouse, Paul and Will were dubious about Henry's plan to bring Myra the psychic there to investigate his clue and locate Barbara. Myra sensed a strange vibe from Chuckles the clown and confirmed that Babs was there at one point and she was distressed. Henry was elated and knew, judging from a lipstick smudge on the clown and his other tips, that Babs was being held against her will. Myra couldn't, however, offer any additional leads about Babs's current whereabouts. Paul tried to get more information out of Myra for the police but she couldn't help.
Emily caught Iris coming out of the wine cellar at Fairwinds and called her out. Iris freaked out, fearing that Em had seen that she's keeping Babs kidnapped there. She begged Em to keep quiet. When Gwen entered, Em was outraged and spilled that Iris was caught drinking. Gwen was disappointed that her mom had fallen off the wagon. Iris was mostly relieved that Em didn't see Babs down there. She played up her guilt over being caught with the bottle so she wouldn't blow her cover. She cried on Gwen's shoulder, apologized and offered to move out. Gwen was concerned and suggested that Em made her mom feel unwelcome, which could've led to her relapse. Will entered and was equally miffed about the Iris situation. Gwen was upset for not listening to Will in the first place. Iris, meanwhile, said she was going to an AA meeting but she was really in Barbara's room at the Lakeview drinking. "Some liquid courage for my next performance," she grinned and tried on Babs's clothes. She called the bank to make sure that Babs's check would clear.
Katie helped quiz Chris about hospital stats and staff names for the big meeting but the study session quickly turned into flirting and they shared a steamy kiss. Chris stepped out to take a call regarding lab tests. Afterward, he was really distracted. Katie pointed out his odd behavior and left after it seemed like he was pushing her away. On the other side of town, Luke and Reid were also finishing up studying for the meeting. Luke was concerned about what Reid planned to wear and offered his fashion advice. "I'm a surgeon who's going to look like Fred Rogers," Reid groaned.
The meeting commenced at Al's. Reid introduced himself to the union members and was very frank about his skills and personality. They were impressed. Bob worried when Chris, who was passed out at the hospital, was late for his own presentation. Katie arrived to support Chris and was stunned that he wasn't there yet and pointed out that he was waiting on results from the lab for a patient. Bob was confused, adding that Chris isn't even on-call. After, Katie admitted to Reid that she really likes Chris and it's a big step for her. Bob found Chris asleep and was disappointed that his son had blown it off. Chris tried to explain that he's just as serious about it as Reid.
Reid confronted Chris about his lab work and positive diagnosis. Chris explained that he got it when he was working abroad and thought he beat it so he didn't tell his family but now it's back and he doesn't want anyone to know. Katie arrived and wanted to go out for a drink but Chris shot her down. He made sure that she knows he's not blowing her off but she was disappointed and concerned about his behavior. Meanwhile, Luke was eager to celebrate Reid's great presentation and taken aback when Reid gave him a very long and very public kiss. "Life is too short sometimes," he explained.
At the Lakeview, Paul and Henry bonded over martinis as Henry tried to explain that he just has a gut feeling that Babs is in danger. Em called Paul to tell him about Iris. Paul said he's dealing with his own mother right now but will be home soon. Henry, meanwhile, started talking to Chuckles. He found the "secret" Myra was talking about in the clown's sleeve. It was a note from Babs saying she's being held against her will and is in trouble. Meanwhile, Emily returned to the wine cellar and was stunned to see Babs bound and gagged there.
