The final three contenders for the mirror ball trophy were announced Tuesday night on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars," while a fourth couple was sent home.
It was Chad Ochocinco and Cheryl Burke who were eliminated, which means that Evan Lysacek and Anna Trebunskaya, Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough, and Erin Andrews and Maksim Chmerkovskiy will face off in next week's final.
Upon hearing the news that he wouldn't be moving forward, Chad took it like a gentleman, saying, "This was awesome, this was awesome. I enjoyed the journey, I met some wonderful people."
Chad included in those people "the beautiful Cheryl Burke," as he called her, and said, "In my eyes, I've already won." Before taking the dance floor for his final dance, he joked, "I'll be here as a professional [dancer] next year."
Cheryl called her partner "the most amazing, soft, gentle man in the world" and added, "I've had such an amazing experience."
As for their rumored romance, Chad said only, "We will remain friends," when asked what he and Cheryl would do moving forward.
